Opossums are very interesting animals. So, with that being said I have decided
to put together some interesting facts about the Opossum that you might not be
aware of.
Opossum Facts
* Many people spell Opossum wrong… they spell it like Possum.
* The Opossum has a very skinny tail that he uses to hang upside down. So, his tail is not only skinny, but also very strong.
* The Opossum also has "hand-like" feet that he uses to climb the trees that he hangs from.
* Opossums have a pouch that they carry their babies in. Their young are born before they are fully developed, so they continue being developed in the mother Opossum’s pouch.
* The Opossum knows how to play dead. Actually, the term "Play Opossum" comes from this fact. It is the Opossum’s instinct to play dead when they are in danger. This way their predators will think they are dead and hopefully not attack the Opossum. Pretty smart, huh?
